It’s the 15th anniversary of the show and the 14th consecutive year that it has aired on BET, making it a historic moment for the network.
Not only is this years awards a celebration of the year in black entertainment, but it’s also a celebration of the awards show itself. It has been 15 years since the first BET Awards, and since then the show has awarded the best of the very best in the world of rap, hip-hop, R&B, sports and movies.
